AWS District Scholarship Application Instructions

The information requested on the application form is self-explanatory. Please fill out the form completely. Please note that membership is an option. If you are not a member, you will receive a one-year free student membership. If you are a member, your membership will be extended one year. In addition to the application form, you must enclose the following:

  • Financial Aid Statement
  • An official letter generated by the financial aid office indicating your current student budget, needs analysis and financial aid awards, including scholarships. Please contact the financial aid office at your school to obtain this information.
  • Transcript(s)
  • Official scholastic records or grade transcripts showing high school, trade school, college or university attendance.
  • Personal Statement
  • Ambitions, goals, background, and other factors that will help the selection committee understand your commitment to pursuing welding education.
  • Have welding experience? Indicate proposed/current welding curriculum and chosen school.
  • Biography and Photo

One of the criteria for receiving financial aid is that you must share your successes with others. Please submit a photograph of yourself and a brief biography to help in preparing a student success story to promote future scholarship programs.

Application Checklist:
  • Completed application, signed by yourself and signed by parent if you are a minor
  • Supplied financial aid statement
  • Included transcripts from all applicable schools
  • Prepared personal statement of career goals
  • Prepared personal biography and photo
  • Mentioned influential welding instructor

Selection
The BC Section Scholarship Committee will make the initial selection(s), which will be brought to the District Conference for approval. Letters will be sent to the successful applicants by July 1.

Deadline:
Applications must be received by March 1 of the current year.
